Things to Do in Auburn: Auburn vs. Arkansas Oct 29

Written by Heather Park | Oct 26, 2022 1:00:00 PM

It's time for more football after the "bye" week for the Tigers. After losing three straight games and playing against a gauntlet of ranked opponents, the Auburn University Tiger players needed to rest their minds and bodies as they prepare for another SEC matchup at Jordan-Hare Stadium. So here's a look at the October 29 game.

Auburn University to Face-Off Against Arkansas

The Auburn University Tigers (3-4, 1-3) now turn their attention to the Arkansas Razorbacks (4-3, 1-3). Arkansas has also struggled lately, losing three of their last five games. The Hogs also benefited from a bye week to prepare for the Tigers' defense, surrendering just 186.6 rushing yards and 204.4 passing yards this season.

However, the Tiger offense will need to get going to win this game. So far this season, the Tigers' offense has struggled to score. Auburn averages a healthy 377 yards of offense per game but only averages 22 points.

Tigers Hope to Get Offense Back on Track

Offensively, the Tigers will look to junior running back Tank Bigsby to carry the load. Bigsby is coming off a 170-yard rushing performance in a losing effort to Ole Miss. He is averaging 5.3 yards per carrying and should have plenty of room (and chances) to run the ball against the Razorbacks.

Junior wideout Ja'Varrius Johnson also hopes to get his game back on track. Johnson is the leading receiver for the Tigers (19 catches, 335 yards) but was shut down over the past two games, with only 10 yards against Ole Miss and 20 against Georgia.

Auburn Will Need to Slow Down the Arkansas Offense

A talented trio of weapons leads the Arkansas offense: quarterback KJ Jefferson (1,463 yards passing), Raheem Sanders (870 yards rushing), and Oklahoma transfer wide receiver Jadon Hasselwood (406 yards).

To win, the Tigers need to shut down the Razorback running game and control the ball on offense. Recent history is on the side of the Tigers, too. Over the previous 13 games, Auburn is 11-2 in games after a bye week.

Catch the Game

Auburn will face Arkansas Saturday, October 29, at Jordan-Hare Stadium, and the kick-off is scheduled for 11 a.m. That means there will be plenty of time for some other things to do in Auburn after the game to celebrate the win.
