The History of Davis Arboretum
Thanks to grants, the generosity of alums, and a coordinated effort, the Davis Arboretum work began in 1963 to create this unique space not far from the Auburn University campus. The park is named after the respected ex-professor of ecology, Dr. Donald E. Davis.
By converting the woodland, swamp, and pastureland areas into miniature ecosystems reflecting the region's nature, the David Arboretum has been a successful project in ecology as the 15.6-acre oasis is now enjoyed by students, locals, and visitors to the area.
Top Things to See at the Davis Arboretum
With over 300 native plant species, such as oaks and azaleas, to international plant life, there's a lot to discover at the Davis Arboretum. Some of our must-see spots include the Chinese garden, getting lost in the grove of oaks, and exploring the nursery to take a little piece of the park home with you.
